Altmann-Fitter: Iterative fitting of probability distributions
Deutsche Version

Altmann Fitter is an interactive program for fitting theoretical univariate discrete probability functions to empirical frequency distributions using methods of iterative optimization based on the simplex algorithm by Nelder-Mead.

The current version covers 200+ distributions (while the world's most comprehensive handbook on statistical distributions [Patil] doesn't even list 100) for analysis of data from all empirical areas - eg. biology, psychology and behavioural sciences, economics, sociology, meteorology, ecology and environment, linguistics, literature and communication studies, engineering and production (quality assurance). It is meant to be used by both, researchers as well as practical workers.
Fitting starts with the common point estimates and is being optimized successively. Goodness of fit is determined by the chi-square test. A number of options and configuration possibilities facilitate flexible operation even with particular needs for manipulation and control.

System requirements: Windows 95/98/NT/2000/XP
